Prenatal and Postnatal massages are wonderful complementary choices for both prenatal and postnatal care. It is definitely becoming ‘the gift’ for baby showers or at your first postnatal visit. It is a holistic way to reduce stress, which play such a key role during labor, aid pains, and promote an overall physical and emotional wellness, which is crucial to prenatal health as well as coping with the new journey of being a mother.
All mothers and daughters deserve the care and attention that they have given to their lived ones compassionately and unconditionally.
The prenatal and postnatal massage that I offer is a combination of acupressure, Swedish massage and energy work. Acupressure works with pressure points on meridians (energy lines throughout the body) to reduce energy blockages, so the body can return to its balance. Effleurage movements are gentle, light strokes that Swedish massage employs to warm up the muscles before applying with deeper pressure. The movements aid lactic acid that builds up in muscles. The strokes work with or against the grains of the particular muscle to ‘untangle’ the tensions collected in a small area. You will be lying on your sides and well cushioned by pillows and blankets, so that your body is well supported due to the extra weight from the growing baby, as well as the postpartum needs. Energy works, such as guided visualization, can help calms the mind, reduce stress and heart rate.
It can provide relaxation and relieve tensions, such as backaches, sciatica, stiff neck, especially due to carrying the big belly. It can sooth the fatigue from a lack of sleep, reduce soreness in joints and muscles, such as cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). Improve energy flow and circulation for better sleep and mobility. Acupressure can provide support to the baby as well as the mother-to-be. It can help with acid reflux, rib pains, pains due to the relaxed joints, headache, etc.
