These volcanic stones are warmed up in hot baths. Using the heat that it absorbed and contained to massage your sore muscles. Either we are squeezing and bracing ourselves much to keep ourselves warm walking in the old winter days or being stuck working at home, staying in one position for too long, doing too many repetitive motions or using the same joints or parts of the bodies all the time, HotStone Massage can give you a well warmed and relaxed session that we can all use in the cold winter here. 

These are basalt stone, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat. During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones may be placed along your spine, on your stomach, chest, face, palms, feet and toes. These gently heated stones will be used to massage your body using Swedish massage techniques. Sometimes, cold stones (white ones) are also used to calm any engorged blood vessels and to soothe the skin, such as the face.
